Patrick, something you could try: in your FSX configuration file, look at the "Trusted" section and check the flightscene.dll to see what status is has. It's going to be a 1 or a 2. Try change it to the other value: if it's a 1, try 2 or vice versa. Note: it is a wild guess. I remember it ...

Followed Pete's suggestion of confirming the flightscene.dll load. And as suggested FSX finally accepted the DLL without any advert effects.
Buildings are now present.
Problem solved.

The Simconnect Text error will come after I have answered YES to the initial error like in FSUIPC

Negative results, putting the addon on top in the dll.xml does nothing. I still get the error

this dll gives me an error on fsx loading.
I get this cryptic message when it tries to load:
The procedure entry point SimConnect_Text could not be located in the dynamic link library simconnect.dll.
